Most of the silver was made by either International Silver Co. or Reed and Barton and dated by numbers or symbols. Most are marked with either USN or a fouled anchor or both. They are heavy duty hotel/restaurant silver, made by silver solder process. Although all pieces came from USS SARATOGA (CV-60) after her August 1994 decommissioning, they must have a real history - a surprising number are dated long before the 1956 commissioning of SARA. |
