| MARTIFACTS was formed in 1985 to rescue marine collectibles from ships that have been retired and scrapped. The founder and president, Ray Newman, has a University of Michigan degree in Naval Architecture, and has long had strong professional and personal associations with the shipping industry. |
Interest in preserving some of the remains of those vessels that have gone to scrap was intensified by being involved in scrapping several ships. With contacts in the Far East available, we established our company. |
